We are being swamped with data recovery jobs…. there has been a mixed bag of causes to these disk failures. The two main causes have been Seagate Firmware issues and data corruption (partiton read issues). These type of partition issues are prominant with external USB drives. The reason for this is that users are not ejecting the drives correctly. If the drive is in use and this occurs it can lead to data corruption and partions read issues, resulting in failure of windows being able to read data from the drive…. The easy remedy, eject the disc using the windows USB drive eject function to avoid data recovery costs. easy fix
