Thought that i would share some info to the consumer about external hard drives. Many consumers are under the impression that hard drives are indestructible.. this is very far from the truth! A hard drive platter spins at a very fast rpm with very sensitive heads that read and write your data to and from the platter area. Even very small movements while drives are in operation can cause catastrophic failure. To keep your data safe the best practise is not to move these drives while in operation.
call us if something does happen, don’t attempt to fix the drive yourself as you can do more damage http://www.completedatarecovery.com.au
At Complete Data Recovery we are able to recovery and rebuild Raid Array Drive from Raid 0,1,5,5e,10. These recoveries and rebuilds are more complexed than a regular recovery, they require more skill, time and knowledge of drive configuration, such and drive order, stripe size, offset… and more. These jobs are P.O.A as Raid Systems require multiple drives.. 2, 3, 4, 5 plus more….and are all required in the rebuilding process.
There are a few simple things that you can implement so that you can minimize the risk of data loss within your business.
1. Make Sure servers locked away and are well ventilated and cooled below 22 Celcius.
2. Have onsite redundancy such as a raid array.
3. Have a maintenance plan with your local IT company.. or inhouse.
4. The critical one – Offsite back up. Either a cloud back up solution or tape/hdd taken offsite each day.
